Flagman training

Flagman training: Manoeuvring heavy vehicles at busy project sites can be challenging, so having knowledgeable, trained and certified flagmen is required to ensure traffic safety and minimize accidents. A flagman is a worker who directs and controls traffic by providing precise instructions to drivers in places where permanent signage is lacking or the road is not sufficiently controlled.

The Safety Culture Flagman Training course is designed for safety trainers with a complete set of text and images, providing guidance on flagman practical applications in real-life circumstances. Trainers teach them methods to solve difficult manoeuvring scenarios.

A flagman is someone who signals with a flag. There are mostly two colours used for vehicle movement control, red to stop and green to go.

Duties of a flagman

Help vehicles move safely in their work areas and help drivers and operators avoid hazards and the possibility of hitting people and other equipment. They are another set of eyes to ensure the job is done safely. Control the Operation of Vehicles on the Site, and ensure safe parking.

Flagmen are used to control vehicle movements such as excavators, Dump trucks, JCBs, Motor graders, bulldozers, Water/Diesel tankers, Delivery Trucks, and Bobcats.

Contact with moving equipment is one of the leading causes of death on site. It makes more sense to say that a flagman is invaluable on-site, as they can help control the risk of contact with moving equipment and vehicles to vehicles, plants and pedestrians.
