Incident Investigation Training, Since 1999, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration ("OSHA") has recognized how some industrial job sites can be large, busy, and complicated, particularly when it comes to construction. In these situations, there may be several different employers in the workplace at the same time, supervising workers performing all types of tasks. The risk of workplace accidents is high.
Federal law requires that all employers must comply with OSHA safety standards. For the construction industry, each employer is legally obligated to “…protect the employment and workplaces of each of its employees engaged in construction work by complying with appropriate standards…. " 29 CFR §1910.12.
On a multi employer worksite who is responsible for conducting an incident investigation?
When we witness or a work accident occurs in our work environment, one of the most frequent questions is how said accident should be reported or notified and, above all, who investigates work accidents. What are the organizations in charge of analyzing these events? Who is responsible for carrying out the process within each organization?
The institution starts by recognizing the impossibility of investigating all accidents that occur at work, although it would be the ideal objective to achieve maximum prevention and minimum risks.
