Rescue plan confined space faced with a risky situation in a confined space environment, an ill-conceived attempt to save a worker can have truly catastrophic results, able to cause very serious injuries or even deaths. SABIC usually requires having a well-defined rescue plan, specific for each confined space, documented and reviewed periodically.

What is a rescue plan confined space?
A rescue plan is a pre-developed document or strategy for safely retrieving a person who is trapped inside a confined space.
From 2011 to 2018 1030 workers lost their life inside confined spaces in the United States, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics. A large proportion of these cases were investigated by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Hygiene.
Rescue plan confined space: minimum requirements
- Description of the confined space.
- Where it is located,
- What tasks are going to be performed on it?
- Identify the person who will be available for rescue,
- The emergency contact,
- The communication methods to be used during the rescue.
- List all the rescue equipment that will be available, indicating where they are and the necessary documentation to confirm that they are in good condition for use.
- Identify all the possible dangers present during the rescue work, indicating their determined risk levels (low, medium, high)
- Have the parameters of evaluation and medical follow-up apply, in case it is necessary during a rescue, and later.
This is a sample rescue plan for entry into a confined space. You can edit and save it for your project.
